A coalition of Summer Lee supporters, upset about a campaign being supported by an outside group, is pressuring an opponent running in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District to condemn what they call attack ads from the United Democracy Project.
Summer has participated in previous Q&A’s since her dynamic first race for the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2018. She actually reached out to me in 2017 to discuss LGBTQ issues. And she’s never stopped advocating, creating a better world, and holding us all accountable for doing the same. She fearlessly tilts at institutions that try to hold her (and us) back, but she’s not chasing dragons. She’s rolling up her sleeves and doing important work.

Lee is seen as the front-runner in the Democratic primary to fill an open U.S. House seat near Pittsburgh.
A recent poll from political group Emily’s List has state Rep. Summer Lee, D-Swissvale, with a 25 point lead over her nearest competitor in the Democratic race for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional district.

First elected to the state House in 2018, state Rep. Summer Lee is a lawyer who supports a $15 minimum wage, the Green New Deal and Medicare for All.
Representing the 34th district, which includes the part of the City of Pittsburgh, Wilkins Township and the Braddock Hills, Churchill and Edgewood boroughs, among others, is Summer Lee. Lee became the first African American woman from western Pennsylvania elected to the House of Representatives in 2018.
